Patient came looking for reconstruction as in the past she had mastectomy for breast cancer and reconstruction with expander. Expander became painful, displaced and was causing distress and discomfort to the patient for the long time. As a consequence of insufficient expansion there was no possibility to expand the skin enough. The breast was looking small and unnatural. Expander was removed and breast was reconstructed with DIEP flap (tissue from the abdomen). Patient now is very happy having soft and naturally looking breast.
She can go swimming, wear any cloths she like and calls this surgery ‘life changing’.
